As a general rule, Kabuki "kumadori" often traces the muscles and blood vessels of the face. This is an extremely exaggerated expression of how facial muscles and blood vessels rise due to emotional uplift.

歌舞伎の隈取は原則として、顔の筋肉や血管のある場所ををなぞったようなものが多く見られます。
これは顔の筋肉や血管が感情の高揚によって浮き上がる様子を極端に誇張表現しているのです。

Red Kumadori is "Justice Han". This is also the main character of the famous "Temporary" play, Gongoro Kamakura.

赤い隈取は「正義漢」です。有名な「暫」という芝居の主人公・鎌倉権五郎もこれです。普段は白塗りの好青年が、怒りなどをきっかけに血管や筋肉が浮き出てきている、と思えばいいでしょう。

これなんて真っ赤かなお顔ですね
